Carmel Mount Retreat Centre is Situated in the territory of the Arch Diocese of Changanacherry near St.Thomas Hospital ,Chethipuzha Changanassery,Kottayam District.It belongs to the CMC Holy Queen's Province ,Changanacherry of the Congregation of Mother of Carmel.It is the Bicentenary memorial of birth of Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elia ,the founder of the Congregation Of Mother of Carmel.The Provincial Synaxis held in 2004 headed by Rev.Mother Cicy the Provincial Superior discussed at length the urgency of starting an apt bicentenary memorial The members of the Provincial Synaxis,rooted in the spirit of the invocation Pope John Paul second for the new evangelisation in the Church ,voted unanimously to start a new centre for evangelization. Thus a long cherished dream of Blessed Chavara was realized when the corner stone was laid for the Retreat Centre,by His Grace mar Joseph Powathil,The Arch Bishop of Changanassery.Blessed Chavara felt it urgent to proclaim the Word of God to root out ignorance that standin the way of holiness.The above said Provincial Synaxis aimed at the spiritual renewal of the religious sisters and the christian formation of laity at large.This has been successfully done at a large scale from the very inception of the Centre.In fact Carmel Mount Retreat Centre is a gift of God for the people pf God.Yes it is an answer to an age old cry and supplication for a hope of prayer and renewal.In fact it is meant for the renewal of the people of God not only of this locality but also of people far and wide.
